"When I Grew Up"
When I was growing up on a farm, times were hard, very very hard...
My two brothers and two sisters and me, were raised mostly by our mother, as our father was away working.
We suffered through hot swelting summers. So hot we sometimes slept on the roof of our house trying to keep cool. Winters were just the opposite, so cold, so cold. So we chopped wood and huddled together to keep warm.
Food was sometime scares, we had a garden in the summer, but we always picked the vegetables before they could finish growing.
In the winter if we didn't kill a rabbit or squirrel, we went a day or so without meat.
Now, I am grown, and I see the starving children in world, the homeless in America and I proclaim, when i grew up WOW, we sure had it GOOD!!!
